The Economist

The Economist is an English-language weekly magazine newspaper focusing on international politics, business news and opinion. Founded in 1843, the publication is owned by The Economist Newspaper Ltd. and produced in London, England.

With a global circulation of approximately 1.5 million readers and a reputation for in-depth analysis and opinion on world events, The Economist is one of the most widely recognized current affairs publications internationally. The news magazine also contains special sections about each region of the world, science and technology, books, arts as well as detailed coverage on Britain and the United States.

Starting in 2012, The Economist will give China its own section similar to what it did for the United States in 1942 by providing detailed coverage on all aspects of the rising superpower, including its politics, economy and society. The China section is the first new section to devote to a single country within the magazine in its past 70-year-history.
