ATIS is the leading technical planning and standards development organization committed to the rapid development of global, market-driven standards for the information, entertainment and communications industry.
A trunk between two switching centers, over which traffic may be originated from one preassigned location only. Note 1: The traffic may consist of two-way communications; the expression "one way" refers only to the origin of the demand for a connection. Note 2: At the originating end, the one-way trunk is known as an "outgoing trunk"; at the other end, it is known as an "incoming trunk".
Industry:Telecommunications
A trunk connecting one or more end offices to a toll center as the first stage of concentration for intertoll traffic. Note: Operator assistance or participation may be an optional function. In U. S. Common carrier telephony service, a toll center designated "Class 4C" is an office where assistance in completing incoming calls is provided in addition to other traffic; a toll center designated "Class 4P" is an office where operators handle only outbound calls, or where switching is performed without operator assistance.
Industry:Telecommunications
A trunk group between exchange carrier switches which transports access traffic for numerous interexchange carriers concurrently and may also carry exchange carrier (EC) traffic.
Industry:Telecommunications
A trunk that has its terminations within a single facility.
Industry:Telecommunications
A trunk that is seized repeatedly, but is not held for an appreciable length of time due to a malfunction. Within a group these trunks have higher than average attempt rates and shorter than normal holding times.
Industry:Telecommunications
A twisted pair that has no intentionally added inductance.
Industry:Telecommunications
A two-digit code (FC) used in the exchange-carrier-to-interexchange carrier (EC-to-IC) facility/service selective signaling protocol and the IC-to-EC facility/service selective signaling protocol that identifies the type of facility requested.
Industry:Telecommunications
A two-digit code used in the EC-to-IC (exchange carrier-to-interexchange carrier) facility/service selective signaling protocol and the IC-to-EC facility/service selective signaling protocol that identifies the type of service requested.
Industry:Telecommunications
A two-dimensional Cartesian plot that depicts the multidimensional subjective relationship among colors perceived by the normal human visual system (eyes and nervous system, including the brain) when additively stimulated by (two or more; usually three) discrete monochromatic visible sources (wavelengths. ) Note: The familiar CIE chromaticity diagram depicts perceived colors plotted as a function of the normalized relative intensity of a defined red (increasingly red with increased "X", or abscissa, value) versus the normalized relative intensity of a defined green (increasingly green with increased "Y". Or ordinate, value. ) With respect to a given perceived color, as plotted on the chromaticity diagram, the normalized relative intensity of a defined blue at any point is obtained by adding the normalized relative intensities of the red and green, and subtracting the total from 1.
Industry:Telecommunications
A two-state signal where one of the states is represented by voltage or current and the other state is represented by no voltage or current. Note: The current flow can be in either direction.
