Thus, instead of transmitting the values 102, 104, 105, 103, 100, 104 and 106, only the values 102, +2, +1, -2, -3, +4, and +2, or only the values 100, +2, +4, +5, +3, 0, +4, and +6 need be sent, depending on the system used. At a given data rate, transmitting only the initial and incremental values require much less time and space than transmitting the absolute values.
