A rating that indicates the amount of electrical energy a battery can supply. The ampere-hour rating is the product of the current flow in amperes, multiplied by the length of time, in hours, the battery can supply this current. A 35-ampere-hour battery can supply seven amperes of current for five hours, or one ampere for 35 hours.

A reciprocating engine in which all the cylinders are arranged in a straight line. In an in-line engine, the piston in each cylinder is connected to a separate throw of the crankshaft. V-engines are a form of inline engine having two banks of cylinders mounted on the crankcase, with an angle of between 45 and 90 degrees between the banks. Two pistons, one in a cylinder in each bank, connect to each throw of the crankshaft.

The cylinders are staggered, with one bank slightly ahead of the other. Staggering the cylinders allows each piston to be connected to a separate throw of the crankshaft. Horizontally opposed engines are called flat engines.
