A tool used to remove a broken tap from a hole. Taps are made of very hard and brittle steel and they can be broken off in the hole being tapped. The tap extractor has a series of fingers that can be stuck down into the hole through the flutes in the tap. When the tap extractor is turned with a wrench, the fingers turn the tap and screw it out of the hole.

A tool used to smooth the surface of an abrasive grinding wheel. An industrial diamond is mounted in the tool, which is clamped in the tool rest in such a way that the diamond can be moved across the face of the abrasive wheel. The diamond wears away any roughness on the wheel and produces a smooth surface.

A tooth of a gear that has had one of the edges of its point chamfered, or beveled. The chamfered edge identifies the tooth that must be meshed with marked teeth on the mating gear to properly time the mechanism driven by the gears. Magneto distributor gears and the gears that drive the valve mechanism in a reciprocating engine often use chamfered teeth to aid in timing.

A torch in which plasma gas is injected into an electric arc formed between two electrodes in a chamber. The stream of hot gases leaves the torch at an extremely high speed through an orifice in the negative electrode. This high-velocity, high-temperature stream can be used for welding, cutting, or spraying molten metal. The temperature produced by a plasma torch can be as high as 60,000°F.
