Industry:Aerospace
Jupiter-like planets, the gas giants Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Industry:Aerospace
Originally known as the Interim Upper Stage, is a two-stage solid-fueled booster rocket developed by the U.S. Air Force for the launching of large payloads from either a Titan III (later Titan IV) rocket or from the payload bay of the Space Shuttle.
Industry:Aerospace
Having uniform properties in all directions.
Industry:Aerospace
A chronological record of events taking place during a spaceflight. For example, the 2001 Integrated Sequence of Events for Voyager.
Industry:Aerospace
The the gas and dust matter that exists between the star systems within a galaxy. It fills interstellar space and blends smoothly into the surrounding intergalactic space.
Industry:Aerospace
The Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) was a joint project of the US, UK and the Netherlands. The IRAS mission performed an unbiased, sensitive all sky survey at 12, 25, 60 and 100 µm. IRAS increased the number of cataloged astronomical sources by about 70%, detecting about 350,000 infrared sources. IRAS discoveries included a disk of dust grains around the star Vega, six new comets, and very strong infrared emission from interacting galaxies as well as wisps of warm dust called infrared cirrus which could be found in almost every direction of space. IRAS also revealed for the first time the core of our galaxy, the Milky Way.
Industry:Aerospace
Meaning "below red" radiation. Electromagnetic radiation in the neighborhood of 100 micrometers wavelength.
Industry:Aerospace
A charged particle consisting of an atom stripped of one or more of its electrons.
